In many dental websites the "Before and After" shots are stock images and not the dentist's actual work. Our website photos are actual Hobson Dental Associates patients. In some cases we have shown the intermediate steps for additional interest. We hope you like our work!
Before
The patient was dissatisfied with old and discolored crowns. The patient's teeth and gums were otherwise healthy. We decided that the old crowns would be replaced with new all-porcelain crowns following minor surgery to contour the gums.
Before
One of the most challenging clinical situations is to replace a single front crown. This requires careful planning and coordination between the dentist and the laboratory.
Before
We had to use a special filtered photography technique to communicate details of the tooth surface texture to the lab. This is essential so light reflects and refracts off the porcelain crown in the same way as the natural tooth.
Before
Ouch!! This front tooth is broken below the gum line. This is an extremely difficult problem as the patient is a female with a very high smile line. The only solution is a dental implant. The challenge is to support the gum tissues for a natural appearance.
Before
These teeth are stained from tetracycline antibiotics given as a child when the teeth were developing. The stain is actually part of the tooth structure. This is the most difficult type of stain to manage.
Before
It is not always necessary to do six or eight veneers. With proper planning we can often reduce the number of expensive veneers saving thousands of dollars. This patient wanted the maximum cosmetic improvement for the minimum cost. We decided on bleaching and four porcelain veneers.
Treatment In Progress
Patients often wonder what their teeth will look like while porcelain crowns and veneers are fabricated in the lab. This is a view of the TEMPORARY veneers. This step also allows the patient to preview the cosmetic outcome before finalization of the porcelain veneers.
After
Final result with bleaching, laser contouring of the gumline (very important for the best cosmetic results) and porcelain veneers. All work is done under a microscope to ensure the best possible outcome. The patient was VERY pleased!
Before
This patient had very old implant crowns that had worn through and needed replacement. Unfortunately the implants were no longer in manufacture and the patient needed additional teeth removed. The solution- convert to an implant-retained upper denture using the existing implants.
After
The implants have been converted to Locator overdenture attachments with a removable denture that is held in place by the snaps you see here.
This patient fractured his front teeth in a snowboarding accident. The treatment involved initial mocking up of the tooth contours and restoring the teeth with a combination of porcelain crowns and composite bonding
Initially we did a rough composite mock up to restore the contours of the teeth and provide a guide for the final restorations. This is an essential step to get the most natural results.
Final result with porcelain crowns on the central incisor teeth and composite bonding on the lateral incisors. The patient was very pleased with the results.
Upper front teeth were extensively stained and decayed. Pt. wanted economical alternative to porcelain veneers
Upper front teeth after restoration with direct composite bonding. The shade was blended into the natural tooth enamel using several cosmetic techniques.
